DIGGSML Version 0.9 Released

As of Friday 10th August 2007 DIGGSML v0.9 has been released for internal review.

Please note that this is an internal release and should not be shared outside of the DIGGS group.

There have been many changes since v0.8 including:

AGS Examples Completed

There are 19 fully validating examples of translating data from an AGS format into a DIGGS format.
It appears that DIGGS is fully AGS compatible however we do envisage small tweaks from the AGS committee as they review the release

Schema namespace split by SIG

We have Split the schema into five namespaces, each referring to a DIGGS SIG. Currently set up are Core, Environmental, Geotechnical, Monitoring and Piling. This is vital for two reasons.

  1. each of the SIGS will be working at different speeds and to different time tables. If we tie them all together at this stage then we will never be able to release anything as each SIG will be at a different stage.
  2. if we leave all the schemas together then for a software application to state it is DIGGS compatible it must support all of the above SIGS. This would effectively restrict any software application ever being DIGGS compatible as no software will be able to do everything in all the SIGS.

We also now have the capability of generating PDF and Spreadsheet documentation for each of these SIGs independently.

Completion of the Data Dictionary

The data dictionary is now to be considered complete, with over 3000 properties in 300 objects the DIGGS data dictionary is both a comprehensive and extensive dictionary of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental data.

Improved reporting of the Data Dictionary

This is now shipped in a PDF file (with full hyper linking) and an Excel XML version of the data dictionary. To view in it Excel simply open the spreadsheet.xml file in Excel.

We have included all of the pre-defined code lists

The master code list file has been split into many smaller ones, this enables consuming applications to update their code lists selectively and to inform the user of what has changed.
